"Cezanne advised painters to study nature in terms of "cylinder,
the sphere, and the cone." Cubist art resembled Cezanne's definition.
Cubism was introduced in the early 20th century
by Picasso, and Georges Barque. Cubist art was one of the most influential
abstract art in the 20th century. The early cubist paintings resembled
geometric figures. For example,Braque's Violin and Palette was very cubic
and abstract. He made his painting very flat and at the same time
3-dimensional. In addition, Picasso followed the same technique of
painting. Picasso was influenced by the African art. His paintings symbolized
the movement from classical figure style to human expression, based on a freedom
to re-order the human image. One of Picasso's most famous painting Les Demoiselles
symbolized the new order, the new style for the next generation.
Picasso and Barque are the primary painters who started Cubism, an introduction to
a new system or style of painting.
